Tips on Returning Online Purchases

Online shopping actually tickles people’s fancy. Scores of products and services are purchased everyday all over the world. However, online shopping has its flip sides as well, flaws in the items delivered being the most common one.

It is really exasperating for online shoppers not to get what they actually purchased from an online merchant. But once you are in such a situation, you should be wise and prepared enough to deal with it.

Here are some useful tips on returning online purchases that are not in tune with what you ordered.

• Prevention is better than cure. Adhere to this age old adage, and be specific while ordering anything online. While placing an order, you have to ensure that the online merchant has clearly understood what you want and when you want. Besides, try to shop at tried and tested online stores. And check the credentials of the online merchant you are purchasing from.
• After receiving the delivery, immediately check whether or not you have been sent what you ordered.
• If you find any discrepancy in the item sent to you, wrap the same, and keep that at a safe place out of children’s reach.
• Do not remove any labels until you are sure that you have got the right thing.

• Always keep record of the specifications of the item you purchased, the date of purchase, the date of receiving the item. This will enable you to be ready with all the information that your online merchant might ask for.
• Call your online merchant up, register your complaint, and ask for advice.
• Check whether or not your complaint is taken seriously. If you feel that your online merchant is dawdling, and not replacing the wrong delivery, ask for a refund.
• Check the company’s policy. This will enable you to know company’s policy on compensating for a wrong delivery.
• Always check the company’s legal policy with regard to any dispute with the buyer.
• Do not get agitated. There might be an inadvertent error on the part of your online merchant. Give them some time to gauge the problem. They can give a solution only after knowing the exact details. Relax and keep close tabs on how your online merchant is operating.
